Accommodations:

Welcome aboard The Mast & Mallet/Wesmac 38 "Strapless"! This new yacht is the combined effort of Naval Architect Mike Kaufman and master boatbuilder Joe Reid of Mast & Mallet. The Mast & Mallet/Wesmac 38 is a fast and stable yacht with a wonderful layout for cruising, fishing, exploring or creek crawling. Her dimensions are all very large for a 38 footer.

Mike Kaufman has designed a Downeast yacht with a flexible layout. Her large main salon has wonderful 360 degree visability, and is comfortable in all kinds of weather.

Entertaining is made easy with the galley up, and the salon flows with just one step down through two French doors into the huge cockpit. A 6' settee is to port in the main salon, with a mate seat forward of this area. To starboard is the large helm station with a comfortable captain seat.

Ventilation is terrific with four generous-sized, sliding, tinted side windows as well as an opening center windshield. Seven cabins fans, and 23,000 Btu's of air conditioning provide lots of cool air flow.

The teak and holly sole in the main salon and forward cabin are beautifully varnished The master craftsmen at Mast & Mallet have produced a truly lovely yacht. The boat interior is very light and cheerful reminding one of a Maine cottage or Herreshoff-style yachts.

Starting forward is the big V-berth which has 6' 6" berths measured on the centerline or 7' when measured along the hull. A shelf is above the berths port & starboard. The insides of the hull are finished in cedar strip paneling for that custom yacht touch.

Storage lockers and cabinets are fitted to both port and starboard, acting as dividers between the V-berth area and the settee aft. This settee to port is 6' 6" long, and would be perfect for catching a nap. Headroom is 6' 5" in the forward cabin, and the sole is finished in varnished teak and holly.

The white bulkheads are finished in white with varnished mahogany trim. The large head is to starboard, and features a big separate shower stall with a built in seat. Four stainless steel opening ports and a large Lewmar deck hatch provide ventilation and light. A bifold door closes off the forward cabin for privacy.

Cushions in the forward cabin and main salon are in a very tasteful navy blue fabric with a subtle beige fleck. The cushions are reversible for extended life. The ceiling in the salon has transverse mahogany strips on 16" centers.

The cockpit is truly huge at 10 ' by 9'. Two large storage lockers are in the cockpit sole via flush hatches as is access to steering gear and stuffing box through other hatches. Extra wide 18" side decks, 1.5 " bow rails and teak grab handles on the cabin top make going forward safe and easy. A teak bench with cushions across the transom has been added. The cockpit has been Awlgripped in the desert sand color.

The graceful forward shearline and tumblehome aft of the Wesmac 38 hull make her a head turner in any harbor. Her gleaming flag blue gelcoat is to a mirror-like finish. The 13' 4" beam, full keel, forward spray rails and the flare of the bow all contribute to the soft, dry ride of the Whitehall 38.

The graceful profile of Mike Kaufman's deck and cabin design make this one of the prettiest new designs. From any angle, the Wesmac/Whitehall 38 is a lovely yacht for the couple or family wishing to cruise in style, comfort and safety.
